Obituary of John T. "Jack" Lemmer

Lieutenant John T. "Jack" Lemmer, CPD Ret., 87, of Mt. Greenwood, passed from this life Saturday, June 2, 2018. John is the beloved husband of Mary Ellen nee Simmons. He is the loving father of Michael (Theresa) Lemmer and Thomas (Carrie Ann) Lemmer. John is the devoted grandfather of Lisa, Michael Ryan, Nichol, Michele, Farrah and Fawn and the proud great grandfather of ten.

John was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He then served the citizens of Chicago by joining the Chicago Police Department. He retired from the 3rd District Grand Crossing after serving both the 22nd District Morgan Park and Area 2 Task Force. John was a lover of all animals and also was a player piano enthusiast.

Visitation for John will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A St. Jude prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 11:00 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island. Cremation will be private.
