Obituary of Robert James Laskey

Robert “Bob” James Laskey, age 62, of Blue Island, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Born on March 30, 1962, in Blue Island, Bob was the son of the late Felix and Jane Laskey. He is the beloved brother of Katherine Taylor and the late James Laskey. Bob is a devoted uncle to Jennifer (Eric) Vanden Hull and a great uncle to Owen and Taylor Dravland. Bob’s warm heart and caring nature touched the lives of many, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Bob grew up and spent most of his life in Calumet Park, where he attended Seven Holy Founders School and later graduated from Quigley High School. While Bob briefly worked at St. Francis Hospital, he will most be remembered as the friendly face at Ace Hardware, where he greeted customers with a smile and made lasting friendships. He could often be found going to Comiskey Park to cheer on the Chicago White Sox with his parents, creating memories that stayed with him throughout his life. Bob also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, having a good game of Scrabble, and playing cards with his family and friends—simple pleasures that brought him so much joy.

Cremation is private. The burial of his cremains at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will take place in the spring. Please check back for updates regarding the details.
