We were friends with Dick and Shirley at Wittenberg Village. Ate dinner almost every day with them and heard many interesting stories. We only found out today, November 29, of his passing. So sorry we weren’t told sooner. Rest In Peace Dick. Mike & Betty Benko

The first term of Mayor Richard W. Withers, 1965 through 1969, was essential to Blue Island. Mayor Withers freed Blue Island from the oppression of Mayor John M. Hart, and he and those who he enlisted to help him brought about long overdue positive change. Mr. Withers possessed so many of the great qualities of the generation that survived The Great Depression and won the Second World War: he was tough, resourceful, practical, and appreciative just to name a few. He cared.
