Obituary of Anthony J. Savino

Anthony J. Savino, formerly of Blue Island and veteran of the US Navy, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2022 at the Veteran’s Home in Manteno, IL.  He was born to Donato and Carmela Savino on March 27, 1933 in Blue Island.  Tony is the beloved husband of Anna Maria nee Vedutelli and the loving father of Joseph (Leslie Ann) Savino, John (Cindy) Savino, James Savino and Henry (Bernadette) Savino.  He is the cherished grandfather of Amber, Alex, Katie, Collin, Vincent, Jason, Andrew and Michael, the proud great grandfather of Ellen and the dear brother of the late Daniel Savino, late Mary Savino, late Henry Savino and the late Joseph Savino.

Tony was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He had a big heart and was always trying to help others out, especially those in need.  He loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, and Tony’s faith grew stronger over time.  Tony and his wife, Anna Maria, enjoyed traveling with family and friends.  Some of their favorite destinations were Italy, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco to attend Italian Catholic Federation Conventions.  Tony was also very active enjoying skiing, hiking and working out at the health club until he was into his late 70’s.  He loved baseball and coached the youth teams that his sons played on.  Tony worked as an advertising foreman for over 30 years at the Star Tribune in Chicago Heights with his brothers Hank and Danny.

He taught us a lot, about baseball, about life, about God. Tony will be missed dearly.
