Obituary of Carolyn J. Poulsen

Carolyn J. Poulsen (nee Osterberg) passed away on January 15th at the age of 90. She is survived by her dear son Jim (Mary Ellen) and longtime family friend, Mike Mech. Carolyn was born in Blue Island to Clinton and Marie Osterberg in 1931.After attending district 130 schools, Carolyn graduated from Blue Island Community High School (DDE) and remained lifelong friends with a group of classmates who called themselves “the 49er’s”. After graduation, she and her cousin Murial Fredricksen formed a singing duo called “the Ranch Girls” and moved to Yankton, South Dakota to sing live on radio station WNAX. Carolyn met her husband Floyd in Yankton, married in 1952. Floyd and Carolyn returned to Blue Island after their son Jim was born. Carolyn was a devoted member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Blue Island and sang in the choir for over 30 years. Carolyn was kind, generous and loving and will be remembered for her willingness to help those in need and her love of animals. Visitation for Carolyn will be held Monday, January 24, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, 11900 S. Kedzie Ave., Blue Island.
