I just found out about Jim today (November 9th) and I'm devastated. My family met him while he was cutting hair in Country Club Hills. He cut my dad's hair for well over 35+ years and they built a great friendship over the years across all the locations he moved. Then eventually I came around and "Mr. Happy" gave me some of my earliest cuts and great off color conversations one could enjoy over 36 years. I could carry on & on, but he would probably just look at me with that trademark glare and tell me to shut up, lol. I viewed Jim as family and leaned a lot on Jim after my dad passed early this year; he graciously came to the wake. I'll miss him and picture him & my dad heckling each other. Won't ever forget Jim and can't ever replace him.
For the family, I feel as if I knew you despite never meeting any of you. Because I was close in age to Lauren & Allison, he would bring something up occasionally and I felt like I was a part of an inner circle that he didn't share with just everyone. I hope to be able to get in touch with you all and express my condolences vocally. Please don't be strangers, I'm always a call away. Godspeed.

I have been enjoying the "wit" of Jim for around 35 years on a once a month schedule. Some days I would count the people waiting and if it was more than 4, it would be an hour wait and I would return later. Recently, I would stop during lunch and he would say that I was his first for the day. He always knew how I liked my hair cut. Then he would stick that huge clipper in my ear and make me flinch as he went after some poor ear hair. We would talk about lawns and weeds. I never wanted to upset him while I was in the chair and he had a clipper in his hand. I remember a time that he tucked a long strip of neck paper in a guy's collar and everyone laughing as the guy walked out the door and on his motorcycle with the paper streaming in the wind.
Jim, I miss you. See you in heaven one day, George.

Jim was my friend for 25 years. Saw him once a month over that time. Loved to make him laugh & see a tear in his eye when I did. Always loved his family. I will miss you my friend. Rest in peace now.

I'm very sad to hear that Jim passed. I called him last week as I usually do to make sure he had time for my cut but he said that he was out sick. I told him several times to let me know if he needed anything as he didn't sound well but in typical Jim fashion, he just said thanks and he'd see me next week. Jim and I always had great conversations (25 years worth) and threw digs at each other seeing as how he was Navy and I'm a Marine, all in good fun! I'm going to miss our conversations and updates on his daughters and grandchildren, he was one of the good guys! My Prayers go out to the family at this difficult time...

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Jim (the barber) I have been a loyal customer of his for over 30 years following him from Country Club Hills to both Oak Forest locations to both Tinley Park locations. Jim and I always had meaningful conversations about politics, family and historical things. I only saw him once a month but considered him a friend. He was so proud of his daughters and especially his grandchildren. He often commented about how he "hated" his daughter's marriage since they "never argued". At my last visit he told me that this might be my last haircut as the income of being a barber was not balancing with the rental costs. He talked about doing hair from his car and driving to customers. He looked tired but he always was tired.
Rest in peace my friend. You can now finally get some sleep.
