Obituary of Oriana Giovannetti

Oriana Giovannetti nee Matteoni, 81, of Blue Island, passed from this life Thursday, March 21, 2019. She was the beloved wife of the late Rudy Giovannetti, who passed away March 3, 2002. The couple were united in marriage October 20, 1958. Oriana is the loving mother of Sandra (Randy) Erfft and Karen (Bob) Kenney. She is the adored nana of Jennifer (Dave) Brown, Shane Kenney, Lauren Kenney, Kevin Kenney, Tara Kenney, Colin Kenney and Mikayla Kenney. Oriana is the dear sister of the late Ivo (late Rafaela) Matteoni, Carla (Franco) Cattalini and Geno (Anna) Matteoni.

Oriana was born in Italy and immigrated to the United States at the age of tweny-one. Blue Island became her home for the next sixty years. She was a gifted seamstress, formerly employed by G. Carlyle Struven Company where she designed uniforms for bank tellers and airline stewardesses. Oriana was happiest when she was cooking delicious meals for her family, friends soon became "family" and she was "Nana" to all. Her love of travel often took her back to her family home in Italy to visit with her brothers and sisters and other family members. Oriana also enjoyed spending the winter months at her home in Marco Island, Florida.

Visitation for Oriana will be held Monday, March 25, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Chapel prayers will begin Tuesday, at 9:00 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island, then to St. Benedict Church, 2339 York St., Blue Island for mass at 10:00 am. Entombment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip.
