Obituary of Marie Monica McDonough

Marie Monica McDonough (Tarro), 87 of Blue Island passed from this life Friday December 7, 2018.

Marie was born November 13, 1931 to Joseph Tarro and Clara (nee Mueller) in Spring Valley, IL.  Marie was married to the late Roy Patrick McDonough for 43 years.  She is the loving mother of Joe (Vicki) Tarro, the late Anne McDonough, Pam (Tony) Raia, Terry McDonough, Kathy McDonough and the late Roy Michael McDonough. Marie is the loving grandmother of Amanda (Andrew) Mohrman, Melody Tarro, Jonathan (Erin) Tarro and Nicole Raia and the proud great grandmother of Lila Peterson, Joseph Alexander Tarro and Cian Garrett Tarro. 

Marie was an active grandmother, never missing recitals, plays and sporting events.   She loved the holidays and spending time with family, extended family and friends.   Her cousins were extended siblings’ and going to family reunions was a highlight each summer.  Marie hosted foreign exchange students from Moraine Valley Community College.  Once part of Marie’s home they also became part of the McDonough family and quickly joined the holiday gatherings she enjoyed so much.    

Marie was a member of Chautauqua Talks Toastmasters and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Blue Island Night of Columbus and past president.  She was a member of St. Benedicts church and the Women’s Auxiliary, Lector and Liturgy Committee. Marie loved to travel, she enjoyed her adventures in California decorating a Rose Bowl float, traveling through the Smokey Mountains and visiting with her son and grandchildren in Florida.

Visitation for Marie will be held Saturday December 15, 2108 from 9:30 am until the time of chapel prayers at12:15 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island, then to St. Benedict Church, 2339 York St., Blue Island for mass at 1:00 pm. Interment Ladd Cemetery, Ladd, Illinois.
