Obituary of Michael Gerald Schmidt

Michael Gerald Schmidt born September 10, 1939 died peacefully on May 2, 2018 at the age of 78. He is the beloved husband of 48 years of Deanna nee Schulte. Michael is the loving father of Tina Bartoli, Michael (Mary Elaine) Schmidt, Deborah (Robert) Stone, Robert (Kristyn) Schmidt and Jamie Schmidt Veyette. He is the proud grandfather of ten and proud great grandfather of eleven. Michael leaves many, many friends to cherish his memory.

Michael was the former owner of two pharmacies in Calumet Park, Schmidt pharmacy and Cal Park Drugs. He was dedicated to the Village and served the community for many years. He entered into politics in 1977 at which time he was elected to Calumet Township serving as tax collector. In 1980 Michael was appointed as a trustee in the Village and served honorably until 1993, at which time he and his family relocated to Matteson. He was also very supportive of the youth in the community, donating to several sports teams and being actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America.

Visitation for Michael will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Cremation will follow but will be private. Please omit flowers.
