Obituary of Irene R. Olson

Irene R. Winterfeldt Sneed Olson, 92, of Blue Island. She was the beloved wife of the late Elmer Olson, who passed away in 1972, and the late Wendell Sneed, who passed away in 1963. Irene is the loving mother of Jacqueline (Richard) Brabant, Wayne (Linda) Sneed and Lynn (Steve) Austin. She is the cherished grandmother of Kelly (Jay) Leazott, Jason (Cheryl) Sneed, Erin (Jason) Littlepage, Amy (Nick) Chavez, Andrea (Mac) Siller and Matthew Austin and the proud great grandmother of Jenna, Jacob and Joshua Leazott, Nate and Sam Sneed, Malia, Marina and Makayla Littlepage, Colton and Caden Chavez, Jonathan, Logan and Kayley Siller. Irene was a faithful, lifetime member of First Ev. Lutheran Church of Blue Island. She served as a member of the Ladies Aid and Altar Guild, a Sunday School teacher, Cradle Roll for newborns and also worked in the church office. Irene was formerly employed by the First National Bank of Blue Island, and also at the banks' location in Matteson. Irene loved to knit and cross stitch. She handmade many beautiful items for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and members of First Ev. Lutheran Church to cherish. A private interment will be held for Irene at First Ev. Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 2519 Grove St., Blue Island, on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 7:00 pm.
