Aunt Gert and Uncle Jerry were at our wedding in 1984 where Uncle Jerry sang. I saw Aunt Gert numerous times and she was just the sweetest, most lovely woman. She always had a smile on her face and she loved being with us and we loved being with her. It is a huge loss for us but she is at home in Heaven with Uncle Jerry and lots of other people she loves. We will miss you Aunt Gert!

Aunt Gert always had a kind word for everyone. I loved her dearly. Do to distance the last time I saw her was about 7 years ago. I will always remember her laugh and her voice.

I recall the great times we had at family gatherings at Aunt Gert's throughout the 1950s. Her home was always filled with with the smells of the holiday feast, laughing Aunts and Uncles, and what what appeared to be hundreds of cousins racing through the house amped on sugary treats and wide eyed in anticipation of Santa's, or the easter bunny's arrival. The racing children part never changed only the hoiday.

Aunt Gert shared my birthday...December 27th. Each time we saw each other, we acknowleged that small but fun common bond. I often reminisce of Christmas' past spent with Gert & Jerry in Palatine. All good memories. She lived a long full life, touched alot of people and made the her world a better place...we should all be so lucky. Now she is back with Jerry and I am happy for her.

Wow, what a selfless person Gert was. "Aunt" Gert, as myself and my famile affectionately called her, was such a steadfast and caring woman who always found time to write handwritten or perfectly typed notes (from the typewriter) to keep in touch. As my Godmother, she was present for all of my Catholic Sacremental celebrations, along with her beloved husband and my Godfather, Jerry.
The best memories of Aunt Gert was of her and Jerry making the long, and sometimes snowy, trips into Palatine for Christmas at the Arnold house. This was always a happy time to catch up on the family and for Gert and Jerry to spend quality time with my Grandmother, Dorothy and Grandfather, George Kraus.

My earliest memory of "Aunt Gert" was staying with her when my mom was in the Hospital having my younger twin brothers, Bobby and Brian. One morning we were sitting in the kitchen and I kept bouncing the kitchen chair. Aunt Gert kept telling me to stop, but I wouldn't listen; the chair fell over backwards and the next thing I know I'm in Pronger-Smith Clinic having my head sewn up. I still have the scar from that! I was almost four years old. Bobby and Brian just celebrated turning 55 years old! Anyway, I always knew Aunt Gert loved me and she has always been special to me. Even though I haven't seen her in person for a few years, it's always been a comfort just knowing she was there. Goodbye, dear Aunt Gert, I'm missing you already.
