Socorro Arenas N., 78, of Blue Island peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Born on May 5, 1946, in Durango, Mexico, Socorro Arenas N. was the daughter of the late Miguel and Andrea Arenas. She spent her life lovingly raising her children and creating a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends. A devoted homemaker, she found joy in cooking, gardening, dancing, listening to music and tending to her family’s needs. Her gentle nature and dedication to others left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Socorro is the loving mother of Irene (Paul) Beauchamp, Irma Montiel, Gloria (Rogelio) Martinez, and the late Martin Ortiz. She is the beloved grandmother to Manuel Monarrez, Jose G. Ortiz, Lorena Ortiz, Evamaria Diaz, Jose G. Solis Jr. (Moose), Joshua Bucio and Yazmin I. Solis and the cherished great grandmother to Danilo, Niko and Hazel. Socorro is the dear sister to Elvira, Francisca, Tomas and Maria. She leaves many other friends and family members to cherish her memory.
Visitation for Socorro will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Ave, Blue Island. On Monday, January 13, 2025 visitation for Socorro will continue from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, immediately followed by mass at 10:00 AM. The funeral procession will then proceed to St. Casimir Cemetery in Chicago for interment. If you would like to contribute in Socorro’s memory, donations to the family are greatly appreciated.
