Olga Solorzano

Obituary of Olga I. Solorzano

Olga I. Solorzano née Ibarra, 74, of Blue Island passed from this life on Friday, December 27, 2024.

Olga was born on May 17, 1950 in Tamaulipas, Nuevo Laredo, Mexico to the late Jorge Ibarra and Petra DeLeon Ibarra.  Olga is the beloved wife of Joseph G. Solorzano.  She is the loving mother of Olga Christina and Joseph H. Olga is the cherished sister to Enrique, the late Fortunato, the late Manuel, the late Victoria, Ruben, the late Maria Candelaria, Alma Silvia and Roberto.  She leaves many other friends and family members to cherish her memory.

Olga had a passion for music, especially the timeless tunes of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, as well as classic rock, soul and funk artists, and the classic Mexican boleros of her childhood. She adored the music of legendary artists such as Pedro Infante and Armando Manzanero, as well as the modern-day bolero interpretations of Luis Miguel. Whether she was dancing to her favorite records at home or humming along to a familiar melody, music was a constant companion that brought her joy and connected her to the world.

Olga was known for her vibrant spirit and her love of dancing. Whether at family gatherings, community events, or simply at home with a good song on the radio, her energy and enthusiasm were contagious. Her graceful movements on the dance floor were a reflection of her joyful heart.  Her love for music and dancing will continue to inspire and remind us of the joy she brought into our lives.

Above all, Olga will be remembered for her devotion to her children, Joseph and Christina and her special needs (the two were inseparable!).  She was an amazing cook and she cherished her family and friends deeply, offering kindness, support, and a delicious meal to anyone who crossed her path. Her home was always a place of warmth, filled with good food, music and love. She was a keen judge of character, whose stoicism and sense of fairness paired impressively with her protective nature, just like her mother Petra.  Olga had a remarkable ability to make those around her feel valued and loved, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial visitation will be held in Olga’s memory on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island.  Cremation is private.
