Jose A. Carrillo, 80, of Blue Island, passed from this life on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.

Jose is the beloved husband of Maria B. Carillo née Fonseca. They have been united in marriage for forty-four years. Jose is the devoted father to Joseph (Nancy Febles), Kathleen (Humberto) Alba-Briones, Michael (Aziza Amiri) and Daniel. He is the loving grandfather to Sarah, Laura, Maya, Norah, Alejandro, Vanessa, Isaaq and Neela. Jose was the loving brother to the late Guadalupe Carrillo. He leaves many other dear family members and friends to cherish his memory.

Jose was born on October 1, 1944 in Mexico to the late Elijio Carrillo and the late Soledad Carrillo née Rubio. Jose started working at Mt. Greenwood Hardware where he developed a passion for maintenance work. He later held maintenance positions at the Archdiocese of Chicago and Evergreen Park Community High School. Jose was a faithful member of St. Benedict Church and was a former member of their Holy Name Society for forty-two years.

In his free time, Jose enjoyed riding and repairing bicycles. He enjoyed dancing to his favorite music, including cumbias. Jose was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was a home repair or to jumpstart your car. He enjoyed his daily walks with his furry friend. Jose was quick to laugh and quicker to smile. Those memories of his laugh and smile will live on forever in those that knew him.

Visitation for Jose will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island. Chapel prayers will begin Saturday at 10:15 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, then to St. Benedict Church/St. Mary Magdalene Parish, 2339 York St., Blue Island for mass at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Benedict Cemetery in Crestwood. If you would like to contribute in Jose’s memory, donations to the family are greatly appreciated.
