Obituary of Dolores Helen Alvarado

Dolores Helen Alvarado nee Portillo, age 75, went home to be with our Lord on July 15, 2024.

Dolores is the adoring wife of Lorenzo J. Alvarado. They were united in marriage for fifty-two years.  She is the loving mother of Dolores Morgan, the late Lorenzo Jr., and Kimberly (the late Robert) Overman. Dolores is the cherished grandmother to Stephen (Vanessa) Morgan, Adrian, Stephanie, Kyle Overman, Randy Overman and Erin Lewis.  She is the proud great grandmother to Alexis Echeverria, Hunter and Jackson Killian.  Dolores will be greatly missed by her family who adore her with all of their hearts.

Dolores was born on August 31, 1948 in El Paso, Texas.  She was a dynamic ESL teacher and adored her Mexican heritage.  Her individuality was always on display as she always thought outside the box.  She dressed up for every occasion and was a fashionista.  One of her quotes was “don’t save the best for special occasions!”  She believed that every day was a special day.  Dolores enjoyed life to its fullest with joy and thanksgiving.

In her lifetime, Dolores enjoyed being with her family.  Holidays, birthdays, weddings, quinceañeras and cookouts were always family reunions and she relished in them.

We know that we can’t have you in this physical realm, but you will forever be in our hearts and memories.  Be with our Savior and Angels as you rest in peace.  We say until next time to a wonderful woman and a beautiful mother.

Visitation for Dolores will be Sunday July 21, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Ave., Blue Island.  Cremation will be private.
