Obituary of Joyce A. Dechene

Joyce Ann Dechene nee Fleck, of Blue Island, passed from this life on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the age of eighty-four.

Joyce was born on October 28, 1939 in Blue Island.  She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas (Jumbo) Dechene and her parents Edward and Doris Fleck nee Holm.

Joyce is the loving mother to Cathy Metz (Rich), Donna Peloquin (Tom), Larry Dechene and her bonus daughters Judy Dechene and the late Eileen Rosentrater.  She is the cherished sister of Gail Sekyra and Terri Fleck Demaray.  Joyce is the beautiful Gramma to Billy Sitarz, Joell Money (Jeff), Wally Hess, Bryan Dechene and Derrick Dechene.  She is the Great Gramma to Brayden and Kaylee Money, Brooklyn Dechene and Audrey Hess.  Joyce is an aunt and friend to many who will miss her dearly. 

Joyce was a devoted and loving wife, mother, gramma, aunt and friend.  She loved her family, kitty cats, dolls, playing cards, strawberries, bingo, dancing and playing machines.  Joyce loved nothing more than to be with her family any day but especially for birthdays and holidays.  Family and God were first in her life.  She never missed a sporting event, school function, graduation, etc.

Joyce will be remembered as a strong, loving and giving woman.  When anything happened in her life, good or bad, you would here her favorite comment “Praise the Lord.”  She will be greatly missed by everyone who loved her!
