Irene H. Swanson nee Sauerbier, formerly of Blue Island, passed from this life Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the age of ninety-six.

Irene was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Swanson, who passed away in 1998. The couple were united in marriage in July of 1974. She was the dear sister of the late Richard (Norma Jean) Sauerbier and the late Elwood Sauerbier. Irene was the loving aunt of Ronald Sauerbier, the late Mark Sauerbier, Scott Sauerbier, Dawn Nichols, Bruce Sauerbier and Chris Sauerbier. She leaves many other family members and friends to cherish her memory.

Irene was born November 11, 1927 in Blue Island to the late Frieda L. Bochmann and the late Martin Sauerbier. She was employed by G&W Electric from 1960 to 1969 in the payroll department. Irene was a faithful member of First Ev. Lutheran Church of Blue Island. She will be remembered as a kind hearted woman who lived her life in her own way. Irene had a beautiful smile and treated others with respect.

A graveside service for Irene will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 12:00 noon at First Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, 4135 W. 127th St., Alsip.
