Mary A. Arenas nee Martinez, 97, of Blue Island passed from this life Saturday, August 19, 2023.

Mary is the beloved wife of the late Manuel G. Arenas. She is the loving mother of Paul (Martha) Arenas, Basilio Arenas, Lucio {Nick} (Sandra) Arenas and Nancy Arenas, devoted grandmother of Bretteny, Sergio (Jackie), Olivia, Ariel (Marco), Emily, Alexander and Stephanie, proud great grandmother of Jose, Jazmine, Julissa, Mateo and Evelyn.

Mary was born March 27, 1926 in East Moline, Illinois to the late Nicasio and Maria de Jesus Martinez. She was a faithful member of St. Benedict Church and served as a volunteer for many of the church functions. Mary loved spending time with her family and preparing wonderful meals for them. She also enjoyed working in her garden and dancing.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Chapel prayers will begin Saturday at 9:15 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island then to St. Benedict Church, 2339 York St., Blue Island for mass at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at St. Benedict Cemetery in Crestwoood.
