Margaret Rita Hillyard nee Strasser of Blue Island, passed from this life Sunday, June 4, 2023 at the age of 67. Margaret was born June 6, 1955 in Chicago to the late Leo Strasser and the late Mary nee Thompson. She is the loving sister of the late Mary Kay Strasser and the cherished godmother of Joseph Donohue. Margaret was 'adopted' by the entire Donohue family and to the Donohues she was more family than friend.

Margaret was employed by St. Francis Hospital as a Patient Care Partner and a Secretarial Partner for many years. She was a member of the Blue Army and affiliated with the Boyscouts BSA. Margaret also was a supporter and volunteer of the Special Olympics.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 7, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Funeral services will begin Thursday morning with chapel prayers at 9:00 am then to St. Walter Church, 118th and Western Ave., Chicago for Holy Mass at 10:00 am. Cremation is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed for masses at you local catholic church and please ask your church to inform the Donohue family of your kind and prayerful donation in Margaret's memory.
