Obituary of Carmen Herrera

Carmen Herrera, 81, resident of Crestwood, passed from this life October 28, 2022.  Carmen was the beloved mother of Maritza Ismail (late Yehia), Carmen Velasquez (Gilbert), and the late Anabella Herrera.  Carmen was the loving grandmother of Erica Zakarauskas (Povilas), Stephanie Larson (Elias), and Jacob Velasquez.  She was the cherished great-grandmother of Eliana, Mila, and Ezra. 

Carmen was born on June 19,1941 in Guatemala.  She immigrated to the United States in 1967.  Carmen was known for being a hard worker.  She retired from Roseland Community Hospital after twenty six years of service as a patient care assistant.  World travel was a special element in her life.  Carmen was blessed to have visited numerous countries such as Switzerland, Greece, Egypt, Israel, and Poland.  Carmen also found pleasure in gardening, crafting, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Carmen was blessed with wonderful family and friends and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Visitation for Carmen will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 9am until time of the service at 11am at Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island,IL 60406.  Interment will follow at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery, 4401 W. 111th St. Chicago, IL 60655.
