Obituary of Donald P. Mear Sr.
Donald P. Mear Sr., 86, of Blue Island passed away on September 2, 2022.
A longtime resident of Blue Island, he was born in Blue Island on May 18, 1936 to the late Henry and Mildred Mear. He was an avid learner, a longtime teacher and principal for Chicago Public Schools, and loved the outdoors—most specifically Glacier National Park and Polebridge, MT, where he spent many summers with his wife and children. He never met a stranger and loved conversing with everyone he met.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Suzanne (née Stankus); daughter Wendy (Paul) Klimah; son Donald Jr; daughter Rebecca; son Jonathan (partner Beth DeMeere); and his cherished grandson Zephyr. He also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will dearly miss him.
At this time there is only a private family viewing, a celebration of life for family and friends may be held at a later date.
