Obituary of David H. Matthews

David Matthews, 66, of Blue Island passed from this life Saturday, October 23, 2021. David was born December 6, 1954 in Chicago to the late Ellen nee Putman and George Matthews. He was a retired Deputy Sherriff of Cook County Court Services and a faithful member of St. Benedict Parish. David is the beloved husband of Diane Matthews nee Koch. He is loving father of Rachael (Robert Dreier) Matthews and Katherine (Kyle Pokorny) Matthews. David is the dear brother of Barbara (Al) Rossi, Diane (Tom) Drennan, the late George Matthews, William (Mary) Matthews, Paul (Lynn) Matthews and John (Linda) Matthews. He is the dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. David was the fond son-in-law of the late William and Evelyn Koch. He leaves many other family members and friends to cherish his memory. Visitation for David will be held Friday, October 29, 2021 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Chapel prayers will begin Saturday at 9:15 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island, then to St. Benedict Church, 2339 York St., for mass at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at St. Benedict Cemetery, Crestwood.
