Obituary of Alexandra B. Ortiz

Alexandra B. Ortiz, of Blue Island, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, entered eternal rest on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at South Texas Health Systems Hospital at the age of 99 years old. Alexandra was blessed with good health for her age, she went in her sleep to our Lord. Alexandra was born in Coahuila, Mexico to the late Maria and the late Felipe Barbosa. She was a sister to four brothers. Alexandra migrated in 1956 to Illinois. She formerly owned and operated a Mexican grocery store "La Popular" on Broadway on the Southside of Blue Island for over 20 years. Alexandra was grateful to God for all her blessings, a loving and giving person, she will be dearly missed by family and friends. We thank God, for you, Mom for the love you gave us, the wisdom you shared and all the ways you blessed our lives with your beautiful heart. She was preceded in death by her husband Manuel Ortiz Sr. and her three sons Manuel Jr, Elias and Felipe Ortiz. Alexandra is survived by three children Jesus (Anita), Lupe (Eutimio) and Jose (Linda); 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. A memorial visitation will be on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary prayer service at 6:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home in Blue Island, Illinois. A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Donatus Church, 1939 Union St. in Blue Island, Illinois.
