Obituary of Ruth M. Ruehl

Ruth M. Ruehl nee Angelo, 89, of Joliet, formerly of Blue Island, passed from this life Monday, May 3, 2021 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home in Joliet. Ruth was the beloved wife of the late David Ruehl, who passed away September 8, 2014. She is the loving mother of Dan (Debbie) Ruehl, Nancy (Mike) Waszak and Betsy (Dave) Jannush. Ruth is the adored grandmother of Nelly Ruehl, Emma Ruehl (Micah Disney), Christina Waszak, Tim Waszak, Jonathan Waszak, Hannah Jannush, Chloe Jannush and Luke Jannush. Ruth was born August 19, 1931 in Chicago. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother. Ruth found great joy spending time with her family and friends. She loved her Blue Island home and took pride in caring for it. Ruth took her love and dedication to children outside her home. She was a Crossing Guard for Whittier School for over ten years, receiving an award in 1989. When Ruth was asked why she stayed at her post, which was at Greenwood and New St., for so long, she replied "I like to sow the seed, to teach children there are good guys out there and because I love kids!" In her younger years, Ruth enjoyed reading, working on miniature doll houses, sewing and ceramics. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling and camping with their children. Ruth had a strong faith, and started each day with prayer. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, the first of which, Noah, is due in July. Visitation for Ruth will be held Monday, May 10, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, at 10:00 am at Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Interment will take place at Mt. Vernon Memorial Estates in Lemont. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Blue Cap greatly appreciated.
