Obituary of John K. Kozak

John K. Kozak, 57, of Hammond, Indiana, formerly of Steger, passed from this life Saturday, March 6, 2021. John was born December 5, 1963 in Chicago to the late Joan Claire nee Nauman and the late Ronald Robert Kozak. He is the loving brother of Barb Milligan, Nancy Kozak, Ken (Jolene) Kozak, Cathy (Delano) Haskell, Karen Kozak. John is the devoted uncle of fourteen nieces and nephews, twenty-two great nieces and nephews and two great, great nieces and nephews. He leaves many other family members and friends to cherish his memory, especially his second family, Leonard Navarro, Sandra Norwood, Joshua Vinson, and especially the children: Thomas, Zoey and Bella. John received his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration from Coyne American Institute. He was employed as a Maintenance Supervisor for several apartment buildings and a member of United Food & Commercial Workers Union. John's family and friends were the most important people in his life and he loved nothing more than spending time with them. He was the jokester of the family and would do anything to make people laugh and enjoyed sharing stories. John was kindhearted and seldom had much but when he did, he would gladly share it with everyone. His hobbies included drawing, making word problems for people and playing bingo! John also volunteered at PADS and Life Christian Church helping the homeless. A Celebration of John's life is being planned for Saturday, April 10, 2021. Unfortunately, due to Covid Restrictions, the service is limited to fifty people and will be by invitation only. If you are interested in attending, please personal message Cathy Haskell on Facebook and we will make sure anyone that wants to participate can attend. Your understanding during these unusual circumstances is greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to South Suburban PADS www.sspads.org
