Obituary of Mary Rose (Rosie) Torres

Mary Rose (Rosie) Torres, 81, cherished spouse of Joseph (Joe) Angel Torres, passed from this life on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital. She was married to her loving husband Joe for nearly 60 years; Joe passed away March 15, 2018. Mary Rose is survived by her daughters Mary Rose (Tom) Rubenacker and Lisa (Joe) Anderson. She is the cherished grandmother of Hope, Bennett, Charlotte, Chloe, Christian and the late Anton, and the sister of Margaret (Terry) Blackmon. Mary Rose grew up in Chicago, IL, daughter of Hope (Zavala) and Peter Hernandez. She attended St Benedict grade school, Longwood Academy High School and business school majoring in accounting. She had a successful career of over 25 years working as accountant for the Standard Oil Company, retiring in 1996. In her personal life, Rose was an active member of the St. John Catholic Church of Glenwood. She was known for her hospitality by opening her home to family and friends. Rose lived her life devoted to taking care of her family and grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 29th, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. The funeral mass will be held Friday, October 30th at 10:00 am at St. John Catholic Church, 301 S. Cottage Grove Ave., Glenwood. Prior to mass there will be an open casket viewing from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. Interment at St. Benedict Cemetery, Crestwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to DuPage & Fox Valley Easterseals, Donor Relations Manager, 830 South Addison Avenue, Villa Park, IL 60181-1153. Due to the Covid 19 restrictions, all precautions must be adhered to and will be enforced. All visitors must have facial coverings and follow social distancing standards of 6 feet. The number of visitors will be monitored and it is requested that you refrain from physical contact. Out of courtesy to all who wish to pay their respects, please keep your time in the chapel brief.
