"It's not a moment of sadness; it's a celebration of reuniting with my dad and uncle." Luis Mata, 30, of Blue Island, passed from this life Monday, August 17, 2020. Luis was the beloved son of Amelia nee Vazquez and the late Ramiro Mata. He is the loving brother of Erika Mata and Noemi (Everardo) Angulo. Luis is the dear nephew of Hector Vazquez, Jose Luis Vazquez, Baudelio Vazquez, Fidel Vazquez, Roberto Vazquez, Guadalupe Vazquez, Samuel Vazquez and Angelica Hernandez and the devoted godfather of JoseLuis Vazquez and Hector Vazquez III. He was the loving companion of his four legged fur baby "Nala". Luis leaves many other family members and friends to cherish his memory. Luis was born July 22, 1990 in Mexico. He has resided in Blue Island since 2004, and was a faithful member of St. Donatus Parish. He enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of Chicago Bulls, Cubs, Bears and Chivas Soccer Team. Luis was especially happy when he was able to participate in any sport and also loved listening to music. Visitation for Luis will be held Sunday, August 23, 2020 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Chapel prayers will begin Monday at 9:00 at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island, then to St. Donatus Church, 1939 Union St., Blue Island, for mass at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at St. Benedict Cemetery, Crestwood. Due to the Covid 19 restrictions, all precautions must be adhered to and will be enforced. All visitors must have facial coverings and follow social distancing standards of 6 feet. The number of visitors will be monitored and it is requested that you refrain from physical contact. Out of courtesy to all who wish to pay their respects, please keep your time in the chapel brief. Thank you for your understanding, as we all work together during these unsettled times.
