Obituary of Martha G. Koprucki
Martha G. Koprucki nee Van Gansbeke, 98, of Blue Island, passed from this life Monday, April 27, 2020.
Martha was the beloved wife of the late Paul V. Koprucki, who passed away July 24, 1991. She is the loving mother of Paul (Chris) Koprucki II, the late Bruce (Jean) Koprucki, the late Mark (Jane) Koprucki, Karen (Ben) Summerfelt and Kay Koprucki. Martha is the devoted grandmother of Elizabeth Koprucki, John Paul Koprucki, Michael Koprucki, Bryce Koprucki, Alexander Summerfelt, Natalie Summerfelt, Nicholas Summerfelt, Dorian Grace and Gabrielle Zaczek. She is the dear sister of the late Madeline Bishop, Sally Rumfield, Julius Van Gansbeke, Camiel Van Gansbeke and Alice Brigden.
Martha was born November 15, 1921 in Montrose, Michigan to the late Maria nee Deloddere and Cyriel Van Gansbeke. She was a WWII veteran of the Women's Army Corp of the US Army serving in the South Pacific, stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. Martha met her late husband while in the service, and they were married in 1945 in Manila, Philippines. In 2010 she participated in the Honor Flight program.
Martha loved to travel and try new things in her later years. She travelled to Spain, Canary Islands, France, Belgium, Morocco, Peru, Philippines, Thailand, Japan and China, as well as extensively in the US, Mexico and Canada. She has ridden snowmobiles, whitewater rafts, pack mules, motorcycles, camels and elephants. She even flew an airplane and was always planning her next adventure.
Martha has been a resident of Blue Island since 1950, where she was a member of the VFW, St. Benedict's Church and St. Benedict's Women's Club. She enjoyed gardening and won awards for her garden.
Interment will be held privately at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. A memorial mass will be celebrated at a future date.
