Obituary of Cathy Lynn Graves

Cathy Lynn Graves nee Mican, passed from this life Sunday, March 31, 2024 at the age of seventy-one. She is the beloved wife of Frank E. Graves and the loving sister of John (Martha Work) Mican and the late Jana Mican. Cathy is the adored aunt of Frances (Paul Baribeau) Mican, Grace (Tyler Mackay) Mican and the dear cousin of Donna (Tom) Koehler, Bill (Peggy) Bailey and Barbara (Rick Bailey) Noah. She is also survived by Frank’s children Simon Graves and Alison (Christopher) Dilworth and their children Owen, Jacob and Zachary Dilworth. Cathy leaves many other family members, friends and neighbors to cherish her memory.

Cathy was born December 12, 1952 in Blue Island to the late Catherine “Kitty” nee Willig and the late John Mican. Although Cathy currently resided in Mokena, her heart and soul remained in Blue Island. She attended the local schools and was a graduate of Eisenhower High School. Cathy was a faithful member of St. Peter and St. Paul Slovak Lutheran Church, volunteering in a variety of roles throughout the years. She was formerly employed for many years by the William Wrigley Jr. Chewing Gum Corporation.

Cathy was devoted to her family, friends and neighbors. She had a loving nature and a smile that would light up a room.  Cathy was the first to step-up when there was a party to be planned, being sure that D’Masti Catering and Iversen’s Bakery items were included. She could also be found spending peaceful moments in her garden or exciting days on a shopping spree! Cathy enjoyed the beauty of birds, especially red Cardinals, knowing that they represented those that have gone before us.

A Celebration of Cathy’s life will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 9:00 am until the time of Memorial Service at 12:00 noon at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Cremation was private.
