My deepest condolences to the Sigrist family
And apologies for this very late message - unfortunately I only found out recently about the very sad news .
I first met Charlie at his office some 30 years ago - and I became a vendor to Sigrist Temp Services
Being in sales my whole career both in Ireland and the US - you meet and engage a lot of customers
There were simply none like Charlie - long , long after we ceased our business relationship we became good friends
Meeting once or twice every year for over 30 years and having one hell of a laugh !
A lovely kind, sincere man - when I emigrated to the States I had just lost my Dad, and at times was a bit lost
Charlie was always there and in many ways I felt like he was my US Dad !
Cherished memories Charlie - Rest in Peace and hope to see you again some day, God willing
Love Always
Rory Smith

So sad to hear the news of Charlie passing. He was a great friend and mentor of mine. I will truly miss him. We shared the love of horses and eventually became partners. Prayers to his entire family!

I am so sorry for your loss. May the words of our loving heavenly Father bring your family comfort and strength during this most difficult time as He promises to bring our loved ones back to life in a perfect world where there will be no more suffering or death (John 5:28-29 & Revelation 21:4).

Charlie was my grandpa, my mentor, my friend, and my role model. He carried his success like a briefcase, never allowing it to own who he was a man. His heart was kind, his intentions pure. I can say without a doubt that his life is more than what met the eye, and through his deeds, actions, and words; his legacy will live forever through us all. I love that man and will join him in eternity when my purpose is fulfilled. I can only hope to touch the number of lives he has and perpetuate the truth and love we all have felt at his will.

Charlie and I became friends over 30 years ago. Charlie had a Box behind us at Arlington he shared with Harry Disko. We quickly became close friends cheering for each others horses and than later becoming partners. The track for Charlie was a great escape from the pressures of work. Charlie loved to gamble! Only thing he loved more was his family and work at Stivers. He was so proud of all his family. Every day I would get an update on a ball game with his grandson or a trip to the casino with his son.....Charlie kept working at Stivers not because he needed the money but because he cared so much about the people at Stivers and worried for their future. I see other posts on here and see one common theme. Charlie truly cared about others and often put his family and friends first. Charlie was like a second father to me and I will always cherish the time we had together.

Our prayers are with your family as your mourn the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. We were so fortunate to be a part of his other family for one of us in this office for 35 years, another for 20 years and one for 5 years. He was a kind and generous man and a great leader. He never forgot our birthdays and work anniversaries. He was our rock when we needed a shoulder to cry on. He knew that Stacey in this office was a big NASCAR fan and would often call and talk NASCAR with her. When Karen went through her struggle with lung cancer he called her everyday to make sure she was okay and to let her know he loved her and was praying for her. Leaders like Charlie are hard to find. We will cherish all the wonderful memories we have him and will keep your family in our prayers.

Charlie was a genuine friend for over 30 years. Our relationship started when I became a vendor of Stivers. Our friendship grew after we ceased to do business together. Charlie's recall of every detail we shared was amazing. At the end of every phone call, he always said "let me know when you would like my box at Arlington". Every time I did use his box, Charlie had someone greet me. If he was not at the track that day, he called me during my time there and said "Are we treating you good?". Charlie loved his family and Stivers. My favorite memory was how he beamed telling me about taking his family to Cooperstown's Baseball Hall of Fame. He always made me feel special. Charlie is a gift that lives within me. Peace be with you.

I have had the pleasure of working with Charlie for over half my life at Stivers. He was our adored leader and we will miss him terribly. He has made such an impact on all his employees at Stivers as well as clients and colleagues across the nation. My condolences to his family whom he spoke of often, we all felt like we were part of his big extended family. We grieve with you and hope that you can take comfort in the feeling that he is still watching out for all of us. Heaven's going to be a lot more fun with Charlie in it.

Please accept my condolences for your loss. Charlie and my mom Jaci Carroll were colleagues on the NATS Board of Directors together many years ago. He was a mentor and friend to her when she was first named to the board. Over the years he continued to keep in touch checking in from time to time with a phone call making sure that mom's health was stable. His warm smile and kind gestures will not be forgotten by me and my family in Connecticut.

Our deepest condolences to the Sigrist family. We were so very fortunate to work for such a great leader. He was the kindest, most generous man. We are grateful for the many years that Charlie was here to support and guide us. He knew how much sports played a role in Pittsburgh and was always happy for us when our teams did well. After a championship win one of the first calls or emails we would get was from Charlie asking if we were going to the championship parade! Charlie will truly be missed and we will continue to honor his legacy in our office.

I’m saddened by the loss of my life-long friend. Our dads were friends at Pullman Standard and we became close friends when we were in grade school and that friendship grew in high school at Fenger. After high school we roomed together for two years at Bradley University and I have many happy memories of that time, (including winning money on one of Charlie’s horses!) We’ve maintained contact over the years and I’ll miss that now. Thank you, Charlie, for your friendship, knowing you has enriched my life. I will miss you, friend.

Words seem inadequate at a time like this. I was deeply saddened by the news of Charlie’s passing. Please accept my deepest condolences to the Sigrist Family during this time. Charlie was one of the kindest and truly selfless men I knew, and it is clear he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather too. I have had the pleasure to work for Charlie and Stivers for the last 27 years. Charlie was a great man, and we will be missed deeply by all who have had the pleasure to know him. May the fond memories of Charlie help you find peace.

Charlie and I met in 1986...trusting business friends at first...personal friends to the end. I've met countless people within my soon-to-be 50-year business career. None have been as professional, as respectful, as refreshingly old-school, as paternalistic (when it came to family and employees) as was Charlie Sigrist. His family will strongly miss him. Stivers will miss him. His friends will miss him. Godspeed to Joan, the children, and to his many adoring employees. We have truly lost a legend.
