Hey, Davey Joe. We're cousins and you will never remember me. I was in college and met you for the first and only time when you were two years old. I grew up with your oldest brother, Phillip Junior and Bobby who have gone before you. You came and stayed with us at our home in Lansing, Illinois. I remember that visit well because I woke up in bed one morning with you [just 2 yrs old] painting my face with one of my Dad's paint brushes. Fortunately, there was no paint involved.
That was all more than 60 years ago. I assume you grew up just like brothers Phil and Bob. That so, then it has been my deep loss not to have shared more time with you. After all, I do owe you for the paint job.
If you run across Phil and Bob, say "Hi" for me.. Who knows, maybe the four of us can sit down and have a game of cards.
Your far too distant cousin,
ron

Kate, Aunt Mary Ann, Aunt Dee, Uncle Leo, and all who loved Uncle Davey Joe so much! So sorry for your loss. I will always remember, when I was 7 years old, seeing "James Dean" at Grandma Edith's house. He would slip in, say Hi to his nieces and nephews, then head out with his buddy's. Uncle David, my Confirmation sponsor, gave me Blackhawk hockey gloves for my Conformation gift. How cool was that!. We always looked forward to seeing Uncle David when we visited Chicago, and will miss his him so very much. He was a kind and gentle soul.

Dave was a wonderful man who was a trusted, loyal friend and neighbor. He had a good heart, a hearty laugh, and he enjoyed a story. Dave took good care of Lefty, Speedy, and I. For these reasons and many others, he will be missed, and he will be remembered.
