My father attended Blue Island High School, graduating in 1946. He missed the war by months. I was always fascinated by his high school year books - he had carefully marked picture after picture of the older boys he knew who had gone to serve in the war. Many of them died, and he carefully noted it on each picture - when and where. I will check his yearbooks to see if placed any notes on Charles Oetjen's picture. They surely knew each other, as my father was an athlete and my grandfather, his father, was the athletic director and coach at the Blue Island High School.
