Maria Elena Maldonado Morales, age 42, of Chicago, passed suddenly from this life on August 7, 2026.

Elena was born on January 27, 1984, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, to Bernardo and Maria de Jesus Maldonado.

Elena is the cherished and devoted mother of Samuel Maldonado, Alondra Maldonado, and Giovanni Maldonado. Her children were her world and the greatest love of her life. She loved being a mother and treasured every moment she spent with her children. They were her reason for living, her strength, and the reason she continued to fight through every challenge life placed before her. Elena was a single mother who worked hard and gave everything she had to provide for and care for her children.

Elena is the loving sister of Juan Carlos Maldonado and Lourdes Maldonado. She is a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews and leaves behind many other beloved family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Elena was many things to many people. She was loving, caring, funny, outgoing, strong, and a fighter. She had a way of leaving an impression on the people she met, and her presence brought laughter, warmth, and love to the lives of so many. Elena leaves behind a profound heartbreak for the many people who loved her. Though her life was far too short, the love she gave and the memories she created will live on through her children, her family, and all those whose lives she touched.

Visitation for Elena will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island.  Visitation will continue Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Krueger Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, IL.
