Helen D. Belser (née O'Dell), 66, of Alsip, formerly of the East Side of Chicago, passed from this life on July 22, 2026.

Helen was born on February 9, 1960, in Chicago to the late Harold and the late Julia O'Dell. She is the devoted mother of David (Leslie) Blanks and Nicole Belser-Durnell.  Helen is the cherished grandmother of Colin Blanks, Kaitlyn Blanks, Myles Durnell, and Zoey Durnell. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and created countless memories they will forever hold close to their hearts. Helen is survived by her beloved sister, Carol Tagler, and was preceded in death by her sisters, Julia Ahlberg and Kathy Lietz. She is also a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.  Helen leaves many other family members and friends to cherish her memory.

After a dedicated thirty-five-year career with AT&T as a Communications Manager, Helen enjoyed a well-earned retirement filled with the simple things she loved most. She found peace working in her garden, where she lovingly nurtured flowers and plants, and she never met an animal that didn't deserve kindness. Her home was always made brighter by the beloved pets she cared for over the years, each one considered a treasured member of her family.

Visitation for Helen will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island. Visitation will continue on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations in Helen's name be made to the charitable organization of the donor's choice.
