Eladio Montenegro, age 63, of Blue Island, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on November 1, 1962, in Mexico, Eladio was the beloved son of the late Delfino and the late Esther Montenegro. He is the devoted husband of Maria Montenegro (née Avitia). Together they shared 41 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and cherished memories.
Eladio is the loving father of Maira (Noel) Lagunas, Adrian (Brenda), and Arianna. He is the proud and cherished grandfather to Janelle Lagunas, Aaron Lagunas, Adam Lagunas, Sophia, Logan, and his beloved grandpuppy, Toby.
He is also survived by his loving siblings, Bertha Alicia, Valdemar, Maricela, Jesus, and Efren Montenegro. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beatriz Montenegro. Eladio is the dear uncle to many nieces and nephews, a beloved cousin to many, and a treasured friend whose presence brought joy wherever he went.
Eladio had a passion for fishing and never passed up an opportunity to gather with family and friends. Known as the life of the party, he had a remarkable sense of humor and was always quick with a joke. Honest and outspoken, Eladio never had a filter, but those who knew him understood that everything he said came from a genuine heart. He was humble, hardworking, resilient, and full of life, embracing every moment with enthusiasm and gratitude.
Whether celebrating special occasions or simply spending time together, he found his greatest happiness surrounded by those he loved. His strength, generous spirit, and unforgettable personality will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
