Norma Holdefer (née Slater), age 92, of Blue Island, Illinois, passed from this life on December 27, 2025.

Norma was born on March 26, 1933, in Blue Island, Illinois, to the late Wesley and the late Martha Slater. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard “Sparky” Holdefer, who preceded her in death on March 30, 2023. Norma and Richard were united in marriage on October 16, 1954.

She is the loving mother of Steven and Jeff, and was preceded in death by her son, Kevin. Norma is a cherished grandmother to Jennifer, Stevyn, Kevyn, and Kenyth. She is the dear sister of Earl Slater and the late Arlene O’Keefe.

Norma treasured time spent away with her late husband, especially their summers in Eagle River, Wisconsin, which she considered her home away from home. There, she enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, time with family and friends, and the slower pace of life. In the colder months, Norma and Richard enjoyed traveling together to warmer weather in Florida, creating many happy memories along the way.

A memorial visitation for Norma will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island, Illinois. Cremation is private.
