Lee W. Barnes, age 82, formerly of Palos Hills, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025.
Lee was the devoted father of Lee (Michaeline), Jeffrey (Michelle), Deborah Hoster (Edward), and Laura Andersen (Jeff). He was the cherished grandfather of 15 and the beloved great-grandfather of 5. Lee was also the dear brother of Paul Barnes and leaves behind many loving family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Born on August 24, 1943, in Harvey, Illinois, Lee was the son of the late Harold and the late Ethel Barnes. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force Reserves from 1963 to 1969. Lee began his professional life as a Blue Island police officer and later served as Chief of Security at Eisenhower High School. He went on to build a long and successful career with Frontier Coach and RichLee Vans before retiring in 1999.
Lee was preceded in death by his former wife, Saragene. He is survived by his former wife and lifelong partner, Barbara Van Huis.
After his retirement, Lee moved to Mesa, Arizona, where he spent over 25 years enjoying the sunshine, warmth, and the companionship of friends in the community he came to love.
Visitation for Lee will be Sunday, November 9th, from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island. Visitation will continue Monday, November 10th, from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM at the Krueger Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Beverly Cemetery, Blue Island.
