Obituary of Guadalupe L. Marquez

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Guadalupe L. Marquez (née Longoria), 75, who passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, April 7, 2025.

Guadalupe was born September 10, 1949 in Blue Island, IL to the late Crespin and the late Adela Longoria (née Chavez).  She is the beloved wife of Enrique Marquez.  They have been united in marriage for forty-five years and shared a lifetime of love and beautiful memories.  Guadalupe is the cherished mother of Naomi Regino, George Regino Jr., and Mona (John) Oliver.  She is the loving grandmother of Allison, Jose Jr., Marissa, Jessica, Alexis, Cris, Victoria, Cecelia, Justin, and Gabriel.  Guadalupe is the proud great-grandmother of Gianni and Giuliano.  She is the loving sister to the late Irma (Jonathan) Pickering, the late Crespin Jr., the late Alfredo (Lupita), the late Florentino, and John (Theresa).  Guadalupe leaves many other family members and friends to cherish her memory.

Guadalupe was an avid gardener, with a particular fondness for roses. Her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit, always full of color and life. She spent countless hours creating beauty in every bloom.

Guadalupe was also known for her incredible talent in the kitchen. She loved cooking and preparing meals for her family.  Her family gathered around her table often, where the food was always abundant, the games of Loteria were intense, the laughter was loud and boisterous, and above all the love was even greater. Many of those delicious dishes and traditions will be enjoyed and carried on by her family in her memory.  Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to blossom in the gardens she tended and in the hearts of those who loved her. 

Visitation for Guadalupe will be held on Thursday, April 10th, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Ave, Blue Island. The visitation will continue on Friday, April 11th, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Benedict Cemetery in Crestwood.
