
Obituary of Sharon Rose Amato
Sharon Rose Amato (née Burgeson), 82, of Blue Island, passed away on April 5, 2025, surrounded by family.
Sharon was born on September 7, 1942 in Chicago, to the late Stanley and the late Catherine Burgeson (née Skvarla). She is the beloved wife of Ralph H. Amato Jr, also known to Sharon as “my Ralphie”. They were united in marriage on Valentine’s Day 1965. Sharon is the loving mother to Shawn (Rose) Amato and Tina Amato Stover (Floyd). She is the beloved step-mother to the late Joni (Wayne) Miller. Sharon is the cherished grandmother of ten and great-grandmother of seven. She was preceded in death by her siblings Kenneth, Juanita, and Florence. Sharon is the dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. She leaves many other friends and family members to cherish her memory.
Known for her fun-loving spirit and zest for life, Sharon was a woman who brought smiles wherever she went. She had a deep passion for nature, whether hiking through the woods, camping under the stars, or tending to her beloved flowers. Sharon lived life to the fullest. As a young woman, she was a belly dancer, entertaining audiences with her grace and energy. She also had a deep love for photography, often spending hours capturing moments both big and small. Whether it was a blooming flower or a candid family gathering, Sharon’s lens always found the beauty in every moment, earning her the affectionate nickname “Sharon Shutterbug.”
Sharon was an active member of the TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) weight loss club, where she shared her infectious enthusiasm and support for others. Those who knew her will remember her as a silly, goofy, and warm-hearted woman who never hesitated to make people laugh and brighten their day.
Cremation is private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dementia Awareness or NAWS in Mokena in Sharon’s honor.
