Obituary of Juan Manuel Cardenas

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Juan Manuel Cardenas, age 63, of Alsip, IL, who left us on Monday, February 3, 2025.  Juan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

Juan was born on March 28, 1961, in Jalisco, Mexico to the late Jose Cardenas Garcia and the late Carmen Larios Olivera. He is the beloved husband to Juana Irma Cardenas (née Duran). Juan is the loving father of Anthony (Rosaura), Sergio, Alexander, Joana, Jonathan, and Christian. He is the proud grandfather to Giselle, Jimeni, Jazlyne, Sergio Jr., Mia, Alyssa, and Josiah. Juan is the cherished brother of ten siblings, Beatriz Cardenas, Baltazar Cardenas, Jose Luis Cardenas, the late Griselda Cardenas, Enedelia Cuevas, Mary Carmen Radilla, Carolina Cardenas Mondragón, Samuel Cardenas, Armando Cardenas, and the late Gerardo Cardenas. He is the dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Juan leaves many other family members and friends to cherish his memory.

Juan spent his career working as a skilled auto mechanic and in due course operating his own auto repair business. He took great pride in his work and helping others. Juan was generous, funny, bright, hardworking, and resilient.  Above all, Juan loved his family more than anything and will be remembered for being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Nothing brought him more happiness than gathering his family together for a meal that he prepared for them. Juan loved any opportunity to joke and his laughter was contagious. His sense of humor will truly be missed. He liked to spend his free time tending to his garden, grilling, and listening to music. Juan’s presence will be deeply missed and his memory will be treasured.

Visitation for Juan will be held Friday, February 14, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a funeral service at 6:00 PM at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island. Cremation is private.
