Obituary of Maria N. Llerenas

Maria N. Llerenas, age 69, formerly of Blue Island, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, February 7, 2025.

Maria was born September 8, 1955 in Mexico to the late Pablo and the late Celerina Escalante.  Maria is the loving mother of Ayrton (Brenda) and the cherished grandmother of Victoria R. and Kamila.  She is the loving sister of eleven brothers and sisters.  Maria leaves many other family members and friends to cherish her memory.

For over 10 years, Maria worked as a dedicated secretary at St. Xavier University. Her colleagues cherished her presence, and she was known for her reliability and genuine care for others.

Above all else, Maria found joy and fulfillment in her family. Her two granddaughters, Victoria R. and Kamila, were the light of her life, and she adored spending time with them. They brought boundless joy to her days, and she reveled in every moment spent with them. Maria also had a special bond with her siblings, and weekends spent enjoying breakfast together were some of her favorite times. The closeness of family and the love they shared were incredibly important to her. Her mother was her greatest inspiration. Maria often spoke of her with the utmost admiration and aspired to be as strong, kind, and loving as she was. Her mother’s influence on her life shaped the wonderful woman she became.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island. Donations to the family are greatly appreciated. Cremation is private.
