Obituary of John Nelson Schade

John Nelson Schade, 81, a former resident of Palos Heights, IL for over fifty years, passed away on January 24, 2025.

John was born on May 26, 1943 in Blue Island, IL to the late Walter and late Alice Schade. He was the beloved husband to the late Carol Jean Schade who passed away in 2014.  They were united in marriage for fifty years.  John is the cherished father of John Scott (Sandra) and Kurt (Christine).  He is the loving grandfather of the late Michael Joseph, Alexander Renée, and Tayler Alexander.  John leaves many other dear family members and friends to cherish his memory.

John was a proud Army veteran who served his country with honor. His time in the military laid the foundation for his lifelong commitment to leadership and service. After his military service, John became deeply involved in his community, particularly in his children’s lives.

As an active and devoted father, he was a leader in both the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts, where he not only guided his own children but mentored many others along the way. He was also an enthusiastic baseball coach, teaching the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship to countless young players.

Together with his beloved wife, Carol, they owned Country Depot, a craft company for approximately thirty years. Their business allowed them to share their creativity and passion with others, and it remains a testament to their hardworking spirit and strong partnership.
