Jimmy worked for Illinois Brick when there were clayholes on each side of 123rd Street, and each was used for extracting clay and ultimately for dumping. The work was hard, dirty, and sometimes dangerous. To work in that type of environment for so many years, you had to be a tough man. That was Jimmy. Al Lopez, Joe Pierce, Gene Galbraith were among those who worked there. Jimmy may have been the last survivor of that great, tough group of men. May all rest in peace and enjoy everlasting life.

I want to take the time out to say that you have been the most amazing grandpa. Always there to watch me and my siblings when our mom and dad were busy. You have always been there for all your grandchildren. I won’t forget you calling me peanut or telling me that you love me. I won’t forget going on vacation with you and grandma. You have given us your unconditional love and You have given roberto the blessing to marry me. I miss and love you! May you rest easy grandpa!

My grandpa was a very strong man! No matter what I was going through, every time he saw me he always had a smile that made me feel like everything was okay. Even when I would visit him in the hospital his smile and positive attitude made it feel like everything was going to be fine. He loved to have a good time. Whether it was going fishing or just spending time together talking I always enjoyed my time with him. I remember a family wedding where grandpa had on his fedora hat with a little feather in it and he made it a point to ask all the young ladies to dance, he knew how to have a fun time and make everyone laugh! Also, I loved going to see him and grandma every Halloween when I was younger and doing the Easter egg hunts with them every Easter. And reggie said he's happy that he had the pleasure of meeting my grandpa and getting to know him! It helps to know that now he can rest peacefully with grandma, uncle Wayne and aunt sue. I love you and will miss your smile always, Melissa Thoms and Reggie Frison

Sue and I will always remember and miss my Dad. He was such a kind-hearted man and friendly to everyone. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed and Sue says he always made her smile. I remember how he taught all his children how to fish and boat. He taught all of us how to enjoy the outdoors with picnics and horseshoes. Another thing my Dad taught all of us as a family was to be able to survive and make money buying and selling at the flea market like his Dad taught him. Anyone that knew my Dad will never forget him.

May you rest in peace Grandpa,
So many memories.. where do I start.. I guess my very earliest memories are of the Holidays at your house. The egg hunts in the yard, when we had Christmas at your house, and of course stopping over every year on Halloween. Also going to Lake Will for the 4th of July. Growing up you were always there, for the graduations, the birthdays, and all the special occasions. You were always such a jokester and you always made me laugh. You could put a smile on anyone's face. I remember you were such a hard worker and you knew everyone in Alsip, it seemed like. Someone was always stopping by and saying Hi. As I got older, I am so glad that my girls, and my husband Tim, got the chance to get to know you. You always made them laugh and we all looked forward to seeing you. You are missed so much!! We love you!! RIP Grandpa Thoms

Dad, I love and miss you. Again, I say thank you for allowing me to finish raising my children. You opened your home to us and I will always be grateful. I’ve always felt that you had the biggest heart and that you strived to be there as much as possible for us in every way possible.

I never knew him that well, but everytime I visited the house he would always greet me with a smile. He didn't remember me but that just made it even more special when I got to see him. It was like meeting a new friend each time because of how sweet he was. He will be missed by many and always remembered by the ones he loved.
