Obituary of Hermelinda Zamora

Hermelinda Zamora nee Resendez ,78, of Blue Island, passed from this life Monday, February 17, 2020. She is the beloved wife of the late Javier V. Zamora, Sr., who passed away December 11, 2019. Hermelinda is the loving mother of Linda (Joe) Zamora, Patricia Zamora, Javier Zamora Jr., Irma Zamora and Omar (Vanessa) Zamora. She is the proud grandmother of Andrew Andersen, Michael Zamora, Julian Zamora and Dahlia Zamora. Hermelinda is the dear sister of Maria Sarli, Rodolfo Resendez, Rosa Serna, Guadalupe Herrera, Arnulfo Resendez and the late Luis Resendez, Carlos Resendez, Ernestina Sandoval, Lázaro Resendez, Genoveva Plascencia, Irma Resendez and Hipolito Resendez. She is the God Mother of Ignacio Zamora Jr, Theresa Rojas, Ruben Lomeli, and Gladys Lomeli. Hermelinda was born December 15, 1941, in Nuevo Laredo,Tamaulipas, Mexico to the late Micaela nee Castillo and Gregorio Resendez. She was devoted to her family and cherished hanging out with family and friends. Entertaining at the Holidays was a special joy for Hermelinda. Her family enjoyed all her wonderful meals, especially the many Mexican dishes she prepared, including: menudo, pozole, chile rellenos, tamales and enchiladas, just to name a few. No meal was complete without her lovely desserts, however, she was famous for her “flan” and “empanadas de piña”- she always had to double these recipes! When she was not in the kitchen working, you would find her watching the Wheel Of Fortune, the Price Is Right or the Chicago Cubs with her beloved late husband Javier. She was an avid Cubs fan!! Hermelinda loved going to play “Lotería” with family on Holidays and she enjoyed going to Carnivals. She loved to shop and was a great bargain hunter! Visitation for Hermelinda will be held Friday, February 21, 2020 , from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday beginning with chapel prayers at 9:00 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island then to St. Benedict Church, 2339 York St., Blue Island, for Holy Mass at 10:00 am. Interment will take place at St. Benedict Cemetery, Crestwood.
