Obituary of John Arthur Bronson
John Arthur Bronson, 80, resident of Dripping Springs, TX passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 8, 2018. John (Jack) was born on May 18, 1938, in Blue Island, IL to James and Oneida (Sheehan) Bronson. He graduated from Blue Island Community High School in 1956 and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at the University of Illinois, he met his spouse and life-time partner of 57 years, Jean Rae Prachar on a blind date. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity during his college years and remained an active brother throughout his life. He received an ROTC commission as a First Lieutenant in the Army. After college, Jack served his commission in the Army Corps of Engineering that included a two-year deployment in Stuttgart, Germany. For fifty years, Jack was a licensed Professional Engineer who contributed to the growth and success of Western Electric Co. in Cicero, IL, Leo Daly Co., John F Steffen Associates and Tennill Associates in St. Louis, MO, Fotomat in Wilton, CT., in addition to his own consulting firm, JAB Associates in Redding, CT. Jack is survived by his wife Jean (Prachar) of 57 years and four children; Sean and Rita Bronson of Canton, CT, Gail and Robert Mitchell of Austin, TX, Doug and Bridget Bronson of Dallas, TX, and Dwight and Darby Bronson of Cheshire, CT and 10 grandchildren: Amanda, Austin, Allison, Samuel, Andrew, Hannah, William, Vivian, Ethan, and Audrey. Jack is also survived by his three brothers James (Nancy), Robert (Rosa) and Kenneth (Linda) and a large family of nieces and nephews. Jack was a loving brother, husband, father, grandpa, uncle and friend to many. Jack and Jean raised their family in Collinsville, IL, Chesterfield, MO, and Redding, CT. Additionally, they lived in Newberry, FL and resided for the past 17 years in Dripping Springs, TX. During his life jack enjoyed both playing and watching sports, specifically football and tennis. He coached his son’s youth sports teams and was an avid Florida Gators fan. He enjoyed watching the kids and grandkids play sports, woodworking in his shop and helping family and friends with household projects.
Memorial service Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at 11:00 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Interment Mt. Greenwood Cemetery, Chicago.
